Can Luck Change Destiny?

Looking out of my window I saw raindrops falling down from my rooftop. A small pool of water had been formed on the raw monsoon roads. Children wore a happy smile while traveling to school. Some were freely jumping on water and having fun.

I could stretch my view from beyond the road. This was under the bridge where these set of children also were jumping in the rain water pond. However, these children did not have uniforms on their body. Neither did they cry on being separated from their mother. These were what we called street children.

I was sitting in a relaxed manner on my chair having the morning cup of tea. A thought just passed by – What is the fault of such children who don’t have clothes, good upbringing, nor good education. Are their Karma predestined to lead a poor life, or can they be lucky to change their future.

Raazi: A true spine chilling patriotic movie

                                                            Directed by: Megna Gulzar
Primarily shouldered by: Actress Alia Bhatt
Rating: 3.5/5

Movie Review:

This is a total patriotic thriller about an Indian girl who chooses her destiny according to her fathers will. She willingly satisfies her role as a Indian spy.  It is based on the Indo-Pak war in !971
While the supporting cast and the crew have portrayed their role well, extra points should be given to actress Alia Bhatt. Through her flawless acting has proved that the student is surely maturing in the thick skinned movie industry.

The music is heart touching especially the song “Ae Watan” and “ Dilbaro” wiich wins the heart of youngsters and to be wed girls respectively.

There are some well crafted scenes which runs through your nerves. All in all a must watch movie for all those patriotic citizens and NRIs of India who still have their Indian nationality intact in their minds.

102 Not Out: An innings not to be missed

Cast: Amitabh Bachchan
          Rishi Kapoor
          Jimit Trivedi
Director: Umesh Shukla
Writer: Saumya Joshi

Rating: 4/5

Plot:  The movie revolves an energetic 102 year old father, Dattatraya Vakharia (Amitabh Bachchan) who wants to break the living record and his boring disciplined 75 years old son, Babulal and Jimit Trivedi more of a link which fills the gap between two characters. The father wants his son to change his boring lifestyle and be livelier like any other person of the age group.

Review:  The chemistry between the father son is excellently timed. Rishi Kapoor as the grumpy old man and Amitabh Bachhan who still lives in his bachpan have very good comic timing between them. The story which starts which a narration has miniature parts of flashback scenes as well.
A fathers worry about a son’s well-being and his emotions (on both the sides) have been depicted in a very effective manner.
Jimit Trivedi – as  a link between the duo also leaves a bit of his excellent acting impact on the audience’s mind.
Released during the period of Indian Premier League (IPL) with a perfect title and on mother’s day, the movie is a perfect gift for elders in the family.

Whose better - A tamed or an untamed girl?

I was wondering through the streets of my area where on the opposite sides I saw two cows one was tied and the other one was left lose.

It is our Indian ritual to pray to the Goddess cow whenever we pass by. This is done either by touching or by feeding the cow.
As I was passing by, two ladies on the either end were praying to the animal goddess. While the untied cow retaliated the tied one did not.

It was at this time that my inner voice told me – Whose better?

“A tamed and an Indian cultured girl; or an uncultured girl who is let loose”.
While this discussion is never ending and the world is becoming modern, our society still believes that a girl with strong family values would be more welcomed than the latter.

Queen: A sure shot second time watch movie!

Star Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Rajkumar Rao, Lisa Haydon

A movie and a novel freak my stint with movies was up, as entertainment from cinema was drying up and lot of movies with grey shades took over.  However, it was Queen which revived my interest in the movies back with liberation as its theme. Hence, this post find itself in the space.

While the movie was intriguing throughout, I had to google a bit to get my facts on it together: P. Nevertheless, it did not take me much of a time to put together my take-away’s from the movie.

The crux of the story revolves around a young shy girl – Rani (Kangana Ranaut) from Rajouri Garden, Delhi and how she liberates herself from sorrow and transforms herself after her fiancĂ©e dumps her on the day before her marriage.

The movie was a roller coaster of emotions – the Awwws, the chuckles, the empathy and the pat on the back experience - I went through all as I was reclining on the chair in the theatre.
The touchy Aww moments were experience when Vijay (Rajkumar Rao) thinks of innovative ways to flirt around the girl to finally convince her. Of them the awesome Awww moment was the scene in the library with a well-crafted dialogue of “Rani…Soup…Manchao….Manjao…”

While the movie has a never to be dried up quota of chuckles, Rani’s experience of freedom with Vijaylakshmi (Lisa Haydon) at Paris were worth cherishing – especially the burps, the free dance and the family’s chat sessions on telecommunication mode.

The moments with the three friends in the Paris Capital – Amsterdam were refreshing - especially the goof up of the locations of the name “church” and dishing out nothing like a “French toast” to a Black.

A suspense element of the climax about what Rani’s decision be has been maintained throughout the movie by showing subtle hints towards Olexander and the Italian chef person who appoints her as a chef in the hotel to finally Vijay who wants to make a comeback in her life desperately.
What left me with a smile as I left and a pat on the back experience was the liberating decision Rani took of freeing herself from the clutches of marriage and showing the world that marriage is not everything in life!

Well, I would not mind watching the movie a second to re-live some of the cherished moments - anyone for second helping of the movie with me ;)?

Psst: The Offer is for girls only :P

Interview with Nisha Thakur on her debut novel: First You Plz

How did you manage to zero-in on the subject and how long did you take to finish it your debut novel – “First You Plz”?

First You Plz is about today’s generation mindset that they wait for the opposite person to propose. They want their lover to take the first step. Many of my friends discuss a lot about who proposed whom or should they be the one taking first step and that’s how this topic came to my mind. It took me a year to finish writing this book.

What age group have you targeted and what is the kind of response that you are getting?

My target audience is anyone who is eagerly waiting for their first love proposal, either to propose or to get proposed. The initial response of the book is very good. My readers liked the story line, they liked the simple language of the book, they liked the characters, they liked and many girls could relate to Avanti and the funniest part is many boys could relate Avanti to their girlfriends. They admitted that even their girls were as immature as Avanti.

Can you describe the nature of some supporting characters? Which one is your favourite?

Supporting Characters are Meenakshi and Rachana. Meenakshi is a true friend who is always ready to help Avanti. Rachana is marketing pain and she relates every situation to various marketing jargons. Rachana is my favorite and she is a favorite character of many readers as well.

Which scene did you have to really have to struggle to pen down?

I find it difficult to write about boys in love. I really don’t understand how they feel when they are in love. For me boys in love are a myth.

Which scene is close to your heart?

Scene close to my heart is when Avanti, Meenakshi and Rachana are back from the trip. Meenakshi talks about Aaksh’s girlfriend and Avanti starts crying and scolds Meenakshi to stop. And Meenakshi and Rachana are shocked to hear this.

Why do you think people should read your book – “First You Plz”

Girls should read First You Plz because there is a bit of Avanti in every girl. Surely while reading First You Plz they would meet themselves and feel she is just like me or she is just like my friend. Boys should read to understand the mystery about the girl’s behavior. Probably next time they would know a girl better.
